There are many ways during the academic year in which the school gathers 'parent voice' - usually by way of surveys and/or questionnaires, open forum discussions and 'coffee clubs'. The Annual Parent Survey 2018 has just been published. Click the link below to find out what our parents have said about our school.
Parent Forum is an open forum for all parents and carers to constructively discuss ways in which parents can support the school, how school staff, leaders, governors and parents can work better together to ensure that parent voice is heard.
The objectives of the Parent Forum are:
To support the school in offering opinion to further enhance and develop a welcoming and inclusive environment
To gather the views of parents and carers on issues which affect them and their children and to communicate these views to the school leadership and Governing Body
To generate open discussion between parents and school staff to support the highest quality education and welfare of the children.
How does Parent Forum work?
All parents and carers are welcome to any meeting - there is no membership. To be effective the Parent Forum ideally needs parents from all age groups within the school to attend the meetings.
Parent Forum is an informal meeting chaired by a member of staff and/or governing body.
There will be three meetings per academic year for which the school staff and leaders will decide the relevant points for discussion. Parents can offer suggestions for discussion in advance of the meeting also (all parents will be offered opportunity to contact the Chair to put forward ideas in advance).
Meetings will include:
Responses to any opinions/suggestions of the previous meeting
Key themes offered for discussion by the school
Discussion of any other issues raised in advance by parents/carers of children at the school.
A record of feedback and responses will be placed on the school website.
Is Parent Forum the same as the PTFA (Friends of Ryhall Academy)?
No, the PTFA is a registered charity whose purpose is to fundraise for the benefit of the school.
The Parent Forum is not for specific personal complaints, these are best addressed to a relevant staff member or the Headteacher. If a Parent Forum attendee is approached by a parent who expresses concerns about their child, that parent should be encouraged to discuss the issue with the child’s class teacher.
Parent View gives parents the opportunity to tell Ofsted what they think about our school, great, good and not-so-good. There are a range of questions from teaching to behaviour, which you can fill in at any time, not just when the school is being inspected!
