Burghley (Yr 3)

It's an exciting time and all change in Burghley Class this term - you've said 'goodbye' to Miss Hillier and I'm now looking forward to joining the Burghley family and the staff team at Ryhall CE Academy.  We continue to be supported by Mrs Evans during all mornings as well as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The class will also be partly taught by Miss Cummings and Ms Walker.

Our theme for Spring Term is 'Swords and Sandals' where we will be exploring the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain (Invaders and Settlers).  As part of our learning we will be taking a trip to the Peterborough Museum where we will enjoy a 'Really Roman' experience.  As a further enhancement of this trip, we will also be visiting a Mandir in Peterborough - this will help us in our developing understanding as life as a Hindu in our RE learning.

I'm looking to find out more about how well the children are using Accelerated Reader and will enjoy giving out more certificates as soon as possible. Please do let me know if you have any problems in locating passwords and usernames. Quizzes can be completed at home as well as at school, however I recommend they are done as soon as possible after finishing the book! Alongside Accelerated Reader, I do encourage regular use of TTRockstars to help children in their learning of times tables - these are essential for success in Maths and regular practice in a fun way is one of the best ways.

I will be making Knowledge Organisers available via Dojo for your reference. Parents, please do encourage your child to regularly review these at home - it is important that they all learn and understand this knowledge and have further opportunity to discuss it with you at home as will help them to be able to verbalise the knowledge they are learning in class and remotely.

I will endeavour to keep parents up to date with our learning developments and give out general messages and reminders out on Class Dojo on a regular basis, so do remember to turn on your notifications and continue to check in frequently.

In order to see what we're covering in Term 3, take a look at the Medium Term Theme Plan for Parents below.

If you have any problems at all, please get in touch:

I look forward to getting to know you and your child/ren this term.

Mrs Thorpe
