Burghley (Yr 3)
Welcome to Autumn Term 2 in Burghley Class!
We are thrilled to welcome you and your child back Burghley Class for another exciting term as we delve into our next topic, ‘Best of British’. I am Mrs. Thorpe, the lead teacher for this class. Alongside me, we have the wonderful support of Mrs. Fowler for the majority of the week.
Theme for the Term: Best of British
This term in geography, we'll be embarking on a journey through the counties and cities of the UK. Science will have us examining the wonders of plants through investigations, and in art, the children will unleash their creativity to craft their very own landscape masterpieces. The mathematical journey continues with a focus on addition and subtraction using the column method. After mastering these, we'll set sail into the realms of multiplication and division, expanding our mathematical horizons. In English, our literary adventure kicks off with Roald Dahl's "Fantastic Mr. Fox." The children will channel their inner journalists to compose their own newspaper articles, weaving tales inspired by Dahl's whimsical world.
Stay Informed with Knowledge Organisers
To keep you well-informed about the subjects and topics your child will be delving into, we will regularly update knowledge organisers on Class Dojo. These organisers will provide an overview of the learning activities and objectives happening in our class. We encourage you to take advantage of these resources to engage in discussions with your child, as this engagement will aid in transferring knowledge to their long-term memory.

Cultivating a Love for Reading

In line with this belief, we kindly request that your child engages in reading activities at least four times a week. Please make a note of these reading sessions in their reading record. This practice will not only enhance their reading skills but also foster a genuine love for reading.
Stay Connected with Class Dojo
We will continue to utilise Class Dojo as a platform to keep you updated on your child's learning journey. This space will also serve as a means to communicate essential messages and reminders. We encourage you to 'Like' and comment on the posts, as your engagement further supports the classroom community.
